The first stop is Spoleto, an enchanting town overlooking the ancient Via Flaminia, where you can admire many attractions such as Roman ruins and many Romanesque churches. Dating back to the Roman period is the Theatre close to the Archeological museum, where the famous Spoleto Festival takes place. Walking through the narrow and medieval streets, you’ll reach the main attraction of this town: the Cathedral, suddenly appearing magnificent and marvelous. The Duomo is a masterpiece of Romanesque art and it preserves the beautiful frescoes by Filippo Lippi in the apse and a small chapel painted by Pinturicchio. Don’t forget to have a walk on the stunning Tower Bridge, a 14th-century structure used both as aqueduct and walkway, where to enjoy a breath-taking view on the Rocca Albornoziana, an imposing military fortress and papal residence, located on the highest part of the city and dominating the whole valley. The tour will move then towards Norcia, a picturesque village surrounded by walls, located in a valley abutting the Monti Sibillini, famous in all Italy for its centuries-old tradition of ham and sausages producers, whence the name “Norcineria”.
