Gubbio is renowned for its ceramics production and for the famous Corsa dei Ceri, taking place every year on the 15th of May, when three large wooden “candles”, each one representing a Saint, are carried at considerable speed through the narrow alleyways of Gubbio and up the steep hill upon which Gubbio is located.Upon your arrival you will meet your private guide: the tour will start with the visit of St. Francis’ Church, built on the spot where St. Francis wore his penitential habit received from a friend. The visit continues with the Logge dei Tiratori, to reach then the magnificent Piazza Grande, where you will be able to admire the Palazzo del Podestà and the stunning Palazzo dei Consoli, a highly impressive Gothic-style public building, where to have a breath-taking view over the valley. The tour moves then towards the Cathedral, an austere Gothic building offering a distinctive medieval atmosphere, located right in front of the Renaissance-style building of Palazzo Ducale. The tour will also give you the option to discover all the little romantic alleys and streets of the town and reach panoramic viewpoints where to admire the enchanting countryside surrounding you. Once the tour is over, you can use the free time at your disposal to keep visiting the city center on your own, have a rest enjoying a nice Italian espresso in a bar or find a workshop where to buy some ceramic handicraft or taste some of the best local products.
