Our first stop is Altamura, renowned for its world-famous bread. Here you will enjoy a unique Bakery Experience, discovering the secrets of traditional bread-making with a live demonstration and insight into centuries-old local techniques and flavors that have made Altamura a symbol of Apulian gastronomy. You will have the chance to see how bread is prepared and taste a particular quality of bread called 'Pane di Altamura' and other local culinary specialties with fabulous red wine glasses (light lunch).
You then continue to Matera, one of the most extraordinary cities in Italy and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its ancient Sassi—historic cave dwellings carved into the rock. Enjoy a guided visit through this remarkable city, where history, culture, and stunning scenery blend into an unforgettable experience. Matera is unique in the world because the original town was dug into a canyon. Its caves were inhabited up until the late 1950s. You will explore the two historic quarters (Sassi districts: Sasso Caveoso, andSasso Barisano), and enjoy the most picturesque alleys. This city has also been used as the set of many movies including Mel Gibson’s ‘The passion of the Christ’, and the 25th James Bond movie.
